Welcome to Our Family Blog

As Bethany and I embark on this next chapter of life, we wanted to have a way for family and friends to know what was going on so that you can know how to pray for us. It has been a difficult decision to leave Columbia, SC as it has been our home for the past six years and we have both grown quite comfortable there. Bethany and I know that in order to better prepare for the vocation that God will call us to, it has become necessary to move on. That being said, our time here has been perfectly ordered and ordained, far exceeding my feeble ability to plan (I came to CIU, for biblical training, yes, but also because I did not want to wear slacks a la' Moody Bible Institute. All things considered, that decision turned out far better than it should have).

In this post I want to cover answer a few frequently asked questions:

What will you be doing?
I will be pursuing a Masters of Christian Studies in Spiritual Theology at Regent College. Bethany will be working full-time at least for the first semester and taking a weekend counseling class at Regent.

Where is Vancouver?
North of Seattle, in Canada

Will you become Canadian citizens?
We're not planning on it.

Do they have cars in Canada?
We won't.

Can you drink the water in Canada?
By most estimates, Canadians enjoy a standard of living that is comparable to, if not higher than, their American neighbors. Just to be safe, however, we will boil the water.

Have you found a house yet?
No.

Have you started packing?
Nope.

Did you and Bethany discuss any other names for your blog?
Yes, as a matter of fact, we did! And here they are:
  • Furst Chronicles
  • Furst Things
  • Jon and Bethany Among the Canooks
  • Jon and Bethany Try On America's Hat
  • Jon and Bethany Move
  • Northern Exposure
  • 2009 eh.d.
